Window Smashed in Attempted Car Theft, Police Say

And a couple return from grocery shopping to find that someone tried to break into their home in this set of police reports.

Burglary: On March 15, at approximately 4:30 p.m., police received a report of an attempted burglary in the 7100 block of Cherokee Street.  According to police, the homeowner returned from a grocery shopping trip with his wife to discover the cement missing from the basement door frame.  No entry to the home was made.

Theft: On March 15, at approximately 2:15 p.m., police received a report of an auto theft in progress in the 200 block of West Mt. Pleasant Ave.  According to police, when officers arrived on scene the perpetrators had fled the scene, but the window to the car was smashed and the steering column had been broken.
