UPDATE: Police: Victim 'Not Cooperating' in Drive-By Shooting Investigation

At least one man in his early 20s is reportedly injured and has been flown by medevac to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.

UPDATE: [1/4/13; 9:15 a.m.] Authorities are investigating a drive-by shooting in the area of West Oak and Kohn streets in Norristown Thursday night that sent one man to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his stomach area, but say the victim is not cooperating with their investigation.

"[The victim] is not cooperating," said Corporal Adam Schurr, a detective with the Norristown Police Department. "He refused to give any information to police on the scene."

Cpl. Schurr added that the investigation into last night's shooting, like others in recent weeks, is hampered by a lack of witnesses willing to talk about what they saw.

"There were people out there who wouldn't talk to the police," said Cpl. Schurr. "They just wouldn't talk to police. We don't have any information at this point."

Cpl. Schurr couldn't comment on whether authorities believe Thursday night's shooting is related to other recent shootings in Norristown.

The victim is reportedly still hospitalized, though his current condition is still unknown. Detectives plan to interview the victim further as soon as they are able.

Police say they have no suspects at this time.

Anyone with information about this crime should contact the Norristown Police Department at 610-270-0977.

UPDATE: [1/3/13; 10:55 p.m.] According to The Times Herald, the victim of tonight's shooting had recently been released from prison and was walking or standing with three others when he was shot in the midsection by an unidentified suspect or suspects who drove up in a car.

Norristown Police Chief Russell Bono told the Herald that the victim was not being cooperative at the scene but detectives would continue to interview him at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he was taken. His injuries are believed to be non life-threatening.

Chief Bono could not comment on whether the incident might be related to other recent shootings in Norristown, but told the Herald that detectives would, "certainly look into that possibility."

According to Chief Bono, witnesses reported hearing the shots, but no one has come forward with any eyewitness accounts.

For your information Gene is retiring the following yr, so it doesnt make since to have him step into that position just for the council to go on the hunt again for a replacentment. Better yet go ask him before you decide to say that the Brotha isn't qualified for the position. And Gene is a Nam Veteran eh knows how to get the job done.

Stop the madness, and stop blaming the police. Blame your sorry asses because some of the trouble is done by our kids. We know who's doing this dumb shit but because of retaliation we're silent and want to blame someone else. Take our homes back, life back, stop looking the other way. The only Problem the NPD has is, that they don't require the officers to reside in N-Town. Years ago when we had a Mayor that was one of the policies so you knew the Police and they had a feel for the community, plus you parents went to school with them and you played with their kids. And children didn't play with Guns and they had a healthy respect for the Police and this town. This was suppose to be the Best Kept Secert. I remember that slogan. My how the time do change, and so should we keep up or get krushed by some of these pants below the ass no skill no respect can't read or fill out an application to get a Job dope smoking gun carring Maggots that roam norristown.

Eve I was going to address jxjipper, but sista you hitted a homerun with your comment. What many fail to realize is, when there was only white men to vote for and we voted for the lesser of the two evils, no one was called a racist on either side. Now with the POTUS being black and most black folks voted for him the whiteman has a problem, well they need to get over it another 4 yrs for the brotha. He was the only clear choice this time around.

@Mickey Jay. You are wrong, Richet and Bono are retiring the exact same time. They both entered DROP together. How does being a Nam vet make you qualified to be a police Chief? Being the Chief is a whole lot more than knowing how to shoot a gun.

@Durable, I don't need you to point out my short coming about information I comment on. It's seems you don't have a clue about what being in the Military and working under pressure is all about. Gene service record means a whole lot to me, that in its self make him qualifies plus his time as a Ranking Police Officer. My point still stands!! Like it or not the Brother has what it take to be Chief in this sorry ass town. Oh BTW being in the service is more than shooting a Weapon which is never in any Branch of service is ever called a damn Gun.
