Police Come Out in Full Force to Arrest Alleged Car Thief Thursday Morning

Police said they car was left running in Chestnut Hill.

Police said they arrested a man this morning after he allegedly stole a car in Chestnut Hill and attempted to escape via Lincoln Drive.

Lt. Michael Kopecki said Thursday that the keys to an Acura MDX were in the car when it was stolen. He said the car was running as well.

There was a large police presence in the area of Lincoln Drive and Hortter Street this morning as police searched for the alleged thief.

"The police saw the male stopped on Lincoln Drive and run," Kopecki said. "That's probably where you saw most of the cars."

Kopecki said the police department called out its K9 unit to help catch him. The unit's dogs were able to help locate the man, who was eventually arrested in the vicinity.

The car was not damaged and was returned to its owner, according to Kopecki.
