Police Blotter: Two Bike Thefts in Chestnut Hill

The following information has been supplied by the 14th District of the Philadelphia Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Theft from auto ... According to police, on Sept. 5 between 4:20 p.m. and 4:40 p.m., several items were stolen from a vehicle parked on the corner of West Springfield Avenue and Walcott Drive. The 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe was apparently entered through its shattered rear driverside window and its owner reported that a black handbag, several credit cards, her driver's license, an iPod, a makeup bag, medical cards, and $20 were removed.

Theft ... On Sept. 3 at 1:17 a.m., police said a theft occurred on the corner of Stenton Avenue and Willow Grove Avenue. The complainant told police that he was waiting for the 77 SEPTA bus when he set his silver Android phone with a black case down on a "side wall." When he turned back around, the phone was gone.

Theft ... On Sept. 4 at 6 p.m., police received report that a bicycle was stolen from Norman Lane. The bike, a red Fugi Robaix valued at $1,300, was reportedly stolen from the property of its owner, where it was locked.

Theft from auto ... On Sept. 2 at 11:45 p.m., police say there was a theft from a car parked on the 8000 block of Winston Road. A Macbook, a charger, a passport, and several undisclosed personal items were stolen from the black 2006 Honda Civic. It is unknown how the vehicle was entered.

Burglary ... On Sept. 1 at 9 p.m., police say there was a burglary on the 8000 block of Ardleigh Street. The complainant said he was at the Waterview Rec Center user the offender's phone when the offender punched him in the head, rendering him unconscious. When he awoke, he was missing a gray mp3 player, a blue Sixers hat, and one dollar.

Theft from auto ... On Sept. 5 at 4:30 p.m., police say there was a theft from a vehicle on the 8000 block of Cherokee Street. The owner of the undisclosed vehicle reported to police that an unknown person broke in through the driverside door and stole $75, various credit cards, a personal check for $1,050, house keys, and two wallets.

Theft of auto ... On the evening of Aug. 31, police say a vehicle was stolen from the 7900 block of Stenton Avenue. The complainant told police that an unknown person took his vehicle, a '93 green Chrysler LeBaron, from the parking lot between 7 p.m. on Aug. 31 and 7:30 a.m. the next morning. The car is valued at $600.

Theft ... On Aug. 30 at 5:30 p.m., police say there was a theft on the 8300 block of Ardleigh Street. The complainant told police that an unknown person took his silver Trek bike from his porch. The bike is valued at $200.

Attempted burglary ... Sometime between the afternoon of Aug. 29 and the evening of Aug. 30., police say a house on the 300 block of Willow Grove Avenue was the target of an attempted forced entry and burglary. The owner said they left the home on Aug. 29 at 3 p.m. and returned on Aug. 30 at 10 p.m. to find the front window screen torn out and smudge marks on the windows from someone, apparently, trying to push it up and open. The window was too dirty for police to retrieve prints from it.
