Police Blotter: Missing College Sign

Each week, we stop by the 14th District and gather the incidents reported in Chestnut Hill according to Philadelphia police.

Theft from auto … A resident of the 400 block of West Moreland Avenue reported March 26, 4:38 a.m., that someone had broken into two vehicles on the block and taken two pairs of sunglasses, clothing and an orange Hermes bag, valued in total at $800, police said.

Retail theft … An employee of Total Class Collections, 7904 Germantown Avenue, reported March 26, 4:44 p.m., that a jacket valued at $425 was taken from a mannequin at the front of the store, police said.

Theft … A security guard at Chestnut Hill College, Germantown Avenue and Bells Mill Road, reported March 25, 1 a.m., that the Chestnut Hill College sign, valued at $5,000 was stolen from the property, police said.

Burglary … A resident of the 8300 block of St. Martins Lane reported March 25, 8:18 p.m., that someone was attempting to break into the second floor of a nearby house, police said. According to police, a hole was found in a wood door on the second floor of the house.

Theft … A resident of the 200 block of West Evergreen Avenue reported March 25, 2 p.m., that a camera, router and some tools, valued at $5,200, were taken from his apartment, police said.

Retail theft … Joseph Polito, 33, of the 100 block of West Price Street, was arrested March 24, 1:37 p.m., at CVS, 7700 Germantown Avenue, for retail theft in the amount of $200, police said. According to police, there was also a warrant out for Polito on charges of simple assault.

Auto theft … Terry Dante, 35, of the 2400 block of N. 23rd Street, was arrested March 24, on the 6600 block of Greene Street in Mt. Airy, after from the unit block of East Abington Avenue, police said.

Burglary … An employee of the Cricket Club, 415 West Willow Grove Avenue, reported March 23, 1 a.m., that someone had forced entry into the Tennis Ball Club House, although nothing appeared to be missing, police said.

Theft from auto … Four reports of thefts from autos were reported March 22, between 6 and 9:35 p.m., from the 7800 block of Winston Road, the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue, the unit block of East Springfield Avenue and the unit block of East Willow Grove Avenue, according to police.
