Police Blotter: Copper Pipes And $2,000 Stolen From Chestnut Hill College

The following information has been supplied by the 14th District of the Philadelphia Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Theft from vehicle: A leather handbag and credit cards were stolen from a vehicle on Aug. 21 between 1 and 2:30 p.m. at the Valley Green Inn. The offender broke the vehicle's right passenger window, police said.

Theft from unlocked garage: A GPS, iPod nano and cell phone were stolen from an unlocked car inside an unlocked garage on the 8200 block of Shawnee Street, police said. The theft occurred on Aug. 20 around 11 p.m.

Theft from vehicle: On Aug. 21, between 1 p.m. and 2:15 p.m., a vehicle on Valley Green Road was broken into and a brown backpack containing $50, keys and the vehicle registration were taken, police said.

Bike stolen: A woman told police that a bike was stolen from her shed on the 600 block of W. Hartwell Lane. She said that the two offenders, who are ex-friends of her son, posted a picture on Facebook of them riding the bike.

Theft from vehicle: On Aug. 20, a car was broken into on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue and paperwork was taken from the glove box, along with $25 in change, a man told police.

Auto theft: A man told police that on Aug. 19, he parked his vehicle on the 7700 block of Stenton Avenue and when he returned, the vehicle was missing.

Rape: On Aug. 18, a rape was reported that occurred on April 30 on the 200 block of E. Willow Grove Avenue. The offender was a black male with a heavy build, around 6'1," and between the ages of 31 and 35. The rape occurred in his black four-door sedan, police said.

Wallet stolen: A woman told police that while working at Chestnut Hill Hospital, she placed a red wallet in her purse behind the counter around 7 a.m. When she checked her purse at 3 p.m., the wallet was missing. A $300 charge was made on her credit card at a gas station.

Copper pipes, money stolen from college: A maintenance worker at Chestnut Hill College told police that sometime between Aug. 13 at 3:30 p.m. and Aug. 15 at 6:45 a.m., someone entered the maintenance shop and stole a large amount of copper pipes, a safe containing $2,000 and a hand truck. A number of doors inside the shop had been pried open, police said.

iPod stolen: On Aug. 15, an iPod was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on the 8800 block of Crefeld Street around 7 p.m., police said.

Laptops stolen:  A man told police that he contacted a computer service company to service his laptop. A white male named Rob came to see the computer on Aug. 12 but said he would return another time. Sometime in the night on Aug. 14, the Toshiba laptop and white Macbook were stolen from the unlocked home on the 100 block of W. Highland Avenue, along with a power adapter and USB.

Bike theft: A woman told police that she left her bike on the 7900 block of Saint Martins Lane, with bike chain locked, on Aug. 9 and when she returned four days later, the bike was missing.
