Over $5,000 in Copper Reported Stolen

The following information is provided by the Philadelphia Police Department.

Another incident of copper theft has been reporting in the Northwest, according to a release from the Philadelphia Police Department.

According to reports, a resident told police that sometime between Dec 7 and Dec 12, an unknown person broke the lock off of his trailer located near 7600 Germantown Avenue and stole various copper piping, tubing and fittings. The resident said that he was the owner of a local construction company and the stolen items were to be used in coming projects.

The estimated value of all the stolen copper is approximately $5,200. Police are investigating the incident.

While this is the first copper theft incident to occur this winter, the Northwest saw including theft from a Chestnut Hill church.
