Mt. Airy Honors Fallen Firefighter

The flag flying over fire station sits at half-staff on Sunday as members of the Philadelphia Fire Department honor their fallen comrade Capt. Michael Goodwin.

NBC 10 reports that Goodwin died Saturday while combating a fire in South Philadelphia at the intersection of Fourth and Fitzwater streets.

Goodwin, 53, is the third Philadelphia firefighter to die on the job within the year.

Goodwin severed in the Ladder 27 Fire Station, which runs out of the fire house located on Snyder Avenue.
