I am really sick of reading your crime reports every day. This story, though very distressing, is a domestic crime, and does not pose a threat to neighbors. Why don't you say "man attacks ex-girlfriend," and why do you say it happened "near Mt. Airy" instead of locating it in Germantown? Your headline is misleading. Please try to be more accurate. And please post crime reports that are of urgent interest to the community, not every single thing that shows up on a police report. To people unfamiliar with our neighborhoods, these stories make it seem like NW Phila. is a dangerous place with constant crime and violence, which is just not the case. When the Phila. police representatives come to meetings in our neighborhood, they tell us we're lucky to live here, and it's one of the safest parts of the city.

I find it fascinating that the woman was attacked by an unknown man who is her ex-boyfriend.

I couldn't agree more. The past couple of weeks, you have been linking headlines for all these violent crimes from Germantown (and some from Mt. Airy - mainly car break-ins) that aren't of much relevance to CH (or Mt. Airy, for that matter) residents. Please, please stop linking these crime reports from elsewhere in NW Philly - its not the Mt. Airy Patch, nor the 14th Police Precinct Patch, and they're harming the perception of the neighborhood to bothj prospective residents and other folks such as my parents who may conjure up false images of violence and rampant crime that couldn't be further from the truth. If you can't fill this page with more relevent things to CH, then please just drop the page or take the neighborhood's name off it and make it the NW Philly Patch or something along those lines.

I thought I was crazy when I read "unknown" attacker. How about some good news.

Maybe the name should be the North West Patch to be more inclusive of the information posted and the various neighborhoods where the readers reside. Though it is named Mt. Airy Patch which seems to work as east and west Mt. Airy are the P & J of the Chestnut Hill and Germantown sandwich.
