Laundry Card Machine Stolen from Apartment Building, Police Say

A man rips a laundry card machine that contains no money from the wall.

Someone stole a machine from an apartment building in the 6400 block of Greene Street that adds value to laundry cards, police said.

A resident would insert the card into the machine and then enter credit card information adding value in dollar amounts to the card.

The card could then be used in the building’s washers and dryers in place of coins.

The apartment manager told police that he discovered the machine missing from the laundry room of the building, and that someone ripped the machine out of the wall.

The machine had no money in it, but it did contain residents’ credit card information, police said.

Police valued the machine at $5,000.
