Indictment in December Robbery of Radio Shack

A man has been indicted in the that occurred at gunpoint on Dec. 26, 2011.

Jeffery Harrison, 59, of Philadelphia was charged Thursday by indictment with three counts of robbery and three counts of using and carrying a firearm during a crime of violence, according to the FBI.

The robbery occurred the day after Christmas, at about 8:45 p.m. There were two armed men, according to initial reports from the Philadelphia Police Department.

The men took an unknown amount of cash from the register and $7,000 worth of cell phones, laptops, televisions and GPS systems, and attempted to tie up the employees before fleeing. No word yet on the second man involved in the robbery.

“The United States Attorney’s Office, FBI, ATF, Philadelphia Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies have established the Hobbs Act Robbery Task Force to investigate and prosecute organized gangs and groups committing commercial armed robberies in this district,” an FBI press release said.

As a result, Harrison was charged with the robbery of the at 7723 Crittenden Street in Chestnut Hill. He was also charged with the Radio Shack robbery Dec. 28 last year at 101 E. Olney Ave., and the Nov. 4, 2011 robbery of Belaggio Jewelers in Northeast Philadelphia.

If convicted of all counts, Harrison between 57 years and life in prison, a $1.5 million fine, five years’ supervised release and a $600 special assessment, according to the FBI.
