Cab Driver Shot in the Arm During Robbery Attempt, Police Say

A man shot a cab driver in the arm in a robbery attempt early in the morning on June 4 in the 200 block of East Hortter Street, police said.

The cab driver picked up two passengers near the intersection of Germantown and Armat Streets, police said.

When the cab reached the 200 block of East Hortter Street, the male passengers told the driver to give up everything, and the passengers began reaching into the driver’s pockets, police said.

The driver began fighting with the passengers when one of the passengers pulled out a silver handgun and fired, police said. 

A bullet struck the driver in the right arm, and the two passengers exited the cab and ran away, police said.

The driver flagged down a police officer at the intersection of Chew and Chelten Avenues, police said. 

The police drove the cab driver to Einstein Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition, police said.
