Blotter: Drunk Woman Yelling in Woods; Underage DUI Crash and Arrest

The following information has been provided by the Newtown Township Police Department. Any arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate guilt or conviction.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–On Sept. 25 at approximately 7:24 p.m., Newtown police responded to the 100 block of East Chelsea Circle in Greene Countrie Village for a report of an injured person in the woods to the back of the home. Upon arrival, police met with a neighbor who took police to the woods approximately 30 feet from the home, according to the report.

Police observed the 63-year-old woman and homeowner sitting on the ground and yelling in the woods. Police asked the woman if she was injured and if she needed an ambulance in which the woman screamed, “Get the hell out of here,” according to the report. 

Police asked the woman if she could call a family member to come take care of her, otherwise she would be arrested for public drunkenness. The woman again screamed at police with profanities, according to the report. Police detected a strong odor of alcohol on the woman and a portable breathalyzer was taken. A 0.12 percent BAC was recorded. She was arrested and cited for public drunkenness.

18-year-old Woman Crashes Car, Arrested for DUI

On Sept. 24 at approximately 12:44 a.m., police responded to the 400 block of Media Line Road for a reported motor vehicle accident with no injuries reported. Upon arrival, police met the driver, a 18-year-old woman from Broomall, who told police she was making a right turn on Morton Avenue from Media Line Road and overcompensated the turn, according to the report.

The vehicle ended up jumping the curb, driving up on an embankment, and hitting a stone wall. The vehicle continued forward and struck a brick pillar and light before coming to rest on top of several bushes and shrubbery onto a property on the 418 Media Line Road.

While speaking with the driver, a strong odor of alcohol was detected, according to the report. A portable breathalyzer test was taken, in which a BAC level of 0.083 percent was recorded. The woman also failed two field sobriety tests, according to the report.

The woman later admitted to police she had drank three beers and a "muscle relaxer" before driving, according to the report. The woman was arrested and charged for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Controlled Substance; Careless Driving; Minor Prohibited Operating With Any Vehicle in System; Purchase of Alocholic Beverage by a Minor.

Probably learned behavior. Most likely just the beginning leading to a tragedy later on if the proper care and treatment is not received now!
