$500 Stolen While Man Still in Bank, Police Say

A home is burglarized while the owner is on vacation in a separate police report.

Burglary: On March 25, at approximately 2:30 p.m., in the first block of Sunset Avenue, an officer on patrol noticed the front door of a home ajar.  Upon further investigation, police realized that the door had been forced open.  Police say there was damage to the door jam and several rooms had been ransacked.  The owner of the home was out of town and contacted by police via phone.  Police say that various types of jewelry were stolen.

Theft: On March 28, at approximately 1 p.m., police received a report of a theft in the 7700 block of Crittenden Street.  According to police, a man withdrew $500 from the bank, and while inside the bank the man placed the envelope with the $500 on the counter.  The man then became preoccupied with something else, police say, and when he went back to get the money the envelope was missing.
