Local companies team up to help disabled athletes with new adaptive ski program

As the Paralympics gets underway this week in Sochi, Russia, 5,000 miles west in the Pocono Mountains, skiing has become a reality for many local disabled athletes.

Not only exceptionally talented athletes, but those who defy the odds of athleticism by overcoming their disability are now enjoying the thrill and excitement of Skiing.

EFE Labs, a manufacturer of electromechanical devices located in Horsham, PA, Montgomery County teamed with The Pennsylvania Center for Adapted Sports helping local disabled athletes get their start.  The collaboration resulted in a Monoski, which is being used by disabled athletes as part of the center’s popular adaptive ski program.

The Pennsylvania Center for Adapted sports provides a number of programs geared toward improving health and fitness for people with disabilities through lifestyle and competitive sports and recreation opportunities. EFE Labs built the Monoski with advanced engineering and manufacturing, ensuring that all who participate in this program have a safe and enjoyable experience.

If you are interested in speaking with a representative from EFE Labs, I would be happy to facilitate. Additional photos are available upon request.
