'Holidays on the Hill' Kicks Off Nov. 23

Festival begins with the annual Circle of Trees lighting at Woodmere Art Museum.

Chestnut Hill has announced it is launching a new, month-long festival to celebrate the holiday season.  “Holidays on the Hill” will begin on Saturday, November 23rd with the annual Circle of Trees lighting event at Woodmere Art Museum and continue through Christmas with holiday cheer and shopping, food and spirits.  Free parking will be offered on Wednesday evenings and every weekend from November 23rd through December 22nd. 

“Be enchanted in Chestnut Hill!  Join us throughout the holiday season for the best in dining, shopping, strolling and holiday fun for the whole family,” said Seth Shapiro, President of the Chestnut Hill Business Improvement District (BID).  “Our community also believes it’s important to give back.  ‘Holidays on the Hill’ is proud to support the Chestnut Hill Cares Toy Drive from Chestnut Hill Hospital and Book Drive from Valley Green Bank.”

Highlights of “Holidays on the Hill” include Stag and Doe Shopping Nights (retailers stay open until 9:00 p.m.!) on December 4th, 11th and 18th and the Chestnut Hill Holiday House Tour on Saturday, December 7th.  On Sunday afternoons, December 8th, 15th and 22nd, Santa and musicians will stroll along Germantown Ave.  Morris Arboretum will hold its Holiday Garden Railway Grand Opening on November 23rd.  Night Kitchen Bakery will offer holiday cookie decorating at 2 p.m. and a Dickens Tea from 1-4 p.m. December 7th and 14th.  Every weekend beginning November 29th Bredenbeck’s Bakery Café will offer Gingerbread House Decorating for parents and children.  For more information including a full schedule of “Holidays on the Hill” events please visit www.chestnuthillpa.com/chestnut-hills/holiday-festival.

Shop for holiday gifts at the wide variety of retailers in Chestnut Hill during “Holidays on the Hill.”  The Pennsylvanian Horticultural Society (PHS) is opening its annual Holiday Pop-Up Shop at 8433 Germantown Ave.  Beginning November 8th, it will offer terrariums, candles gifts and other popular holiday items.  Several new pop-up shops will be open in November and December, including From Bali to Bala, Bohemian Pink, Pennsylvania General Store, Onice, Hillsley Hood and Over Under.
