Philadelphia Ranked Among Snobbiest Cities

Which city do ou think is the snobbiest?

Do you consider Philadelphia to be snobby?

Apparently, the readers of Travel & Leisure magazine do. Philadelphia tied with Kansas City, MO for 14th place.

The top three snobbiest cities, according to the magazine are San Francisco, New York City and Boston.

The rankings were based on a survey the magazine sent to its readers asking them to rank 35 major metropolitan areas for various features.

“To determine which city has the biggest nose in the air, we factored in some traditional staples of snobbery,” the magazine wrote.

Those included:

  • A reputation for aloof (Philadelphia ranked 29 for friendly people)

  • Smarty-pants residents (Philadelphia ranked 23 for intelligent people)

  • High-end shopping (Philadelphia ranked 19 for luxury shopping)

  • Classical music (Philadelphia ranked 7 for classical music)

  • Theater (Philadelphia ranked 10 for theater/performance art)

  • Tech-savviness (Philadelphia ranked 22 for tech-savvy)

  • Artisanal coffeehouses (Philadelphia ranked 20 for )

  • Conspicuous eco-consciousness (Philadelphia ranked 23 for environmental friendliness)
