1st Annual BlocktoberFest Run/Walk

  • When: Saturday, Oct 6, 7:45 a.m.
  • Where:
  • Why Go: West Mt. Airy Neighbors (WMAN) is holding it's 1st Annual BlocktoberFest to help support crime prevention efforts. The run and walk will start around 8 a.m. after opening ceremonies.  The starting line is Allens Lane Train Station. The High Point Café at the train station will be featuring specials and there will be entertainment, Tai Chi classes, chiropractic check-ups and crime prevention tips throughout the day.  The day continues with Walk & Talk Block Parties throughout 12 different blocks.  For additional information and to register, please visit WMANs website.

Farm Fest at the Mort Brooks Memorial Farm

  • When: Saturday, Oct 6 at 4 p.m.
  • Where: Mort Brooks Farm at Awbury Arboretum, 1011 East Washington Lane
  • Why Go: Bring the whole family and participate in children’s activities, a tour of the farm, apple pressing, face painting, a pie eating contest, food, yoga and much more. Plus, admire a new art installation by local artist Meei Ling Ng in collaboration with lighting designer Jackson Kay.

Fall Festival at Morris Arboretum

  • When: Sunday, Oct 7. 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Where:
  • Why Go: Bring the family out for some fall fun. Make your own scarecrow, paint a pumpkin, and sample different varieties of apples.

Fall for the Arts Festival

  • When: Sunday, Oct 7 from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Where: Germantown Avenue, between Willow Grove and Rex Avenues
  • Why Go: Come enjoy a day of art, music, delicious food and shopping. Germantown Avenue will be transformed into an outdoor arts and crafts marketplace.  For additional information, please visit their website.

Rally Against Breast Cancer

  • When: Saturday, Oct. 6
  • Where: Mt. Airy Church of God in Christ, 6401 Ogontz Avenue, Philadelphia
  • Why Go: All day long there will be events at the church.  The Rally Against Breast Cancer is from 2 - 3 p.m.  There will be a Community Health Fair from 2 - 6 p.m.  A Mobile Mammography van will be on site, reservations in advance needed.  There will be a workshop for men on how to take care of yourself and others with breast cancer.  A breast cancer patient & survivor pamper party from 3 - 6 p.m. and at 6:30 pm there will be a Gospel Extravaganza.
