Volunteers Needed for Work at Andorra Natural Area

The
Friends of the Wissahickon are in need of volunteers to
close a final section of unsustainable trail on Saturday, September 21, 2013,
at the Andorra Natural Area, home of the popular Wissahickon Environmental
Center (Andorra Tree House). Volunteers will break up the compacted soil on the
trail, set a series of check dams in the steep areas to reduce stormwater flow,
then place organic matter and large branches to disguise the closed area. This
is all part of the preparation work needed to plant native vegetation at a
later date.

Meet at the WEC (300 Northwestern Ave. 19118) at 9 am.
Workday ends at 1 pm. Registration is not required but is
recommended in order to be notified in case of any changes due to
weather. To register, contact FOW Volunteer Coordinator Eric Falk at
falk@fow.org. Workdays
are cancelled in the event of heavy rain or snow. Visit FOW's Facebook page or www.fow.org
for updates.
