Revolutionary Germantown Festival

Join us at 6401 Germantown Avenue on the grounds of Cliveden and Upsala for the Revolutionary Germantown Festival!  On Saturday October 5, 2013 we celebrate the 236th anniversary of the Battle of Germantown!
The battle is reenacted at 12pm and 3pm.

Join the sites of Historic Germantown for interactive activities and enjoy food, a beer garden, and tours to celebrate our fascinating local heritage.

Childrens Activities on the Grounds of Upsala:
ACES Museum: Jump da’ Broom, learn about this African American marriage ritual and then join in.

Awbury Arboretum: Learn about historic plants and their uses; pokeberry Ink, spicebush tea, & nosegays. Check out information from Awbury Arboretum Landscaping Services

Historic Fair Hill: Colonial hospital tent, the garden at Fair Hill was used to grow medicinal plants during the Revolutionary War.

Grumblethorpe: The Grumblethorpe Youth Volunteers will be hand cranking and selling homemade ice cream. They will also have their stilts

Stenton: Bring your cameras! Stenton will have outfits at their tent for kids to try on and see what children and adults wore in colonial times.

Wyck: Come out and play with a variety of colonial games

Sites Open to Visit during the festival:
Concord School House: Special 2pm Burial Ground Ceremony *Free
The Germantown White House (Deshler-Morris House): Open 10am-4pm *Free (The one day that are open in 2013!)
Germantown Mennonite Meetinghouse: Open for tours 12-4pm, *Free
Johnson House: Open for tours 1-4pm, Admission fees may apply
Wyck: Open for tours 1-4pm, Admission fees may apply
