Poetry Reading and Discussion and Poetry Open Mic Night

Suzanne Parker, winner of the Kenneth Gensler Book Award, will read from her new collection of poetry, Viral, written in response to the death of Rutgers University student Tyler Clementi, who jumped from the George Washington Bridge in September, 2010. Viral explores the complex issues of sexuality, shame and masculinity. Grief and loss guide us as Parker investigates the issues of privacy, voyeurism and human contact, seeking to understand what it means to live in a world where technology can quickly turn a dark computer screen into an open window.
