GETMusic! Festival

Hosted by the Pennsylvania Girlchoir
Tindley Temple | 750 S Broad Street | Philadelphia, PA 19146
Friday, February 21 | 6:00-9:00 pm
Saturday, February 22 | 9:30 am-6:30 pm (5:00 pm concert)

This two-day choral music experience celebrating young women choral singers will be conducted by renowned choir director Lynnel Joy Jenkins, and will feature a world premiere setting of a Sonia Sanchez poem by local composer Andrea Clearfield. This exciting festival is being funded in part by a matching grant from the Knight Foundation’s Arts Challenge. It is just one of the planned events of the Pennsylvania Girlchoir’s 10th Anniversary Season.

GETMusic! is the Pennsylvania Girlchoir’s answer to author Eve Ensler’s “call to girls, about girls, for girls, around the world to be their authentic selves.” GETMusic! creates an opportunity for hundreds of female choristers from all walks of life to join forces for a weekend of shared musical connection. Girls will have the affirming experience of learning and performing repertoire with, and written and conducted by, women. There will be two additional rehearsals scheduled in the lead up to the Festival at satellite locations. The specific dates and times of these rehearsals will be determined once the roster of participating singers has been finalized.
