Heat and thunderstorms seemed to dominate the month of July, along with coverage of the Fourth of July. But none of these stories made the top five most-read posts on Chestnut Hill Patch. Here's what did:

This police blotter contained a laundry list of thefts, but it seems that the theft of an accordian from a car was what caught the attention of our readers. To the victim: we're sorry that you lost your accordian. But your neighbors might not be.

One of Chestnut Hill's favorite breakfast spots was the location of a breaking and entering incident where the burglar got away with the restaurant's cash register, and left a broken plate glass window.

Over the weekend of July 21 and 22, a home on Rex Avenue and another on West Highland Avenue were broken into. One tenant was away on vacation, and another reported $1,800 in valuables stolen.
