Severe Thunderstorm Watch Declared in City

The watch is in effect until 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m. for Philadelphia and surrounding counties.

Thunderstorms with one-inch or larger hail and gusting winds of up to 58-mph could be seen, the service stated, adding that people in the area should be on the lookout for threatening conditions because severe thunderstorms can, and occasionally do, cause tornados.
