Places to Beat the Heat in Chestnut Hill

With temperatures reaching the triple digits, there are a few places to go to save your electricity bill and get out of the house and out of the heat simultaneously.

Unfortunately, a favorite summer destination in Chestnut Hill, , is closed through most of July for maintenance. The rink will reopen July 26 for ice skaters. So, until then, if you normally try to beat the heat by putting ice beneath your feet, here are a few other spots to go to cool off.

  • Grab an icy treat: There are a few places to get ice cream or water ice in Chestnut Hill. Try , , or the .
  • : Air conditioning and books galore. When the library closes, you can check out movies about Alaska, hockey or blizzards to help you think cold.
  • Refrigerated section in Pathmark: Don’t knock it. As lazy as heat may make you feel, taking an unscheduled grocery shopping trip and hanging out in the freezer and refrigerated sections at the store. Pick up some popsicles while you’re there.
