Household Hazardous Waste Drop Off Event Scheduled for Saturday in Roxborough

The Philadelphia Streets Department's Sanitation Division will hold the event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The Philadelphia Streets Department's Sanitation Division is holding a household hazardous waste collection event Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the department's Northwest Transfer Station at Domino Lane and Umbria Street in Roxborough. 

This event provides citizens with an opportunity to recycle or dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste. Hazardous items include old and unused cans of oil-based paint, solvents, pesticides, flammable liquids, used oil, antifreeze and brake fluid. 

Philadelphia resident dropped off more than 62,000 pounds of potentially hazardous material during the city's April and May household hazardous waste event.

Trained staff will be on hand to sort and properly package materials dropped off for disposal. No waste material generated by a business will be accepted. 

The event will be held rain or shine. For addition information or a full list of materials eligible for drop off, contact the Streets Department's Customer Affairs Unit at 215-686-5560
