Check out these local art studios to make your masterpiece.

Looking for a place to get out of the sun? Duck into your nearest art studio and find your true talent.

Allens Lane Art Center - Whether you are interested in printmaking, ceramics or painting, you can find the perfect spot to hone your  artistic talent at Allens Lane Art Center. Though a couple of their classes are off for the summer, there are a wide variety of classes for the master or the novice artist, from dance and theater to visual arts. There is even an option for open studio time if you simply looking for a nice corner out of the house to throw some pots or paint some masterpieces. Preregistration is required for all classes, so make sure you check out their online form to sign up today.

Manayunk Roxborough Art Center – If you’re looking for a place to get started, The Manayunk Roxborough Art Center is a great place to test the artistic waters. This center offers adult beginner painting and drawing classes that are taught by a skilled artist who has been in the mix for over 20 years. There are also a number of child classes, from after school art classes to art for toddlers to “Fabulous French,” a class that focuses on French art for kids.

Woodmere – The Woodmere Art Museum not only looks beautiful, but you can learn to create like a master as well. Woodmere offers a variety of specialty art classes for children and adults – classes like Japanese Collage Painting on Washi Paper and Alla Prima Figure Painting. These are block classes that typically only run once or twice with three to five classes a session. Woodmere also has yoga classes, gardening and introduction to drawing classes for kids.

East Falls Glassworks – If you’re looking for some really out-of-the ordinary artwork, stop in at East Falls Glassworks and learn to make this fragile, beautiful figures. Located at the Sherman Mills in East Falls just outside of Manayunk, this glass-blowing studio. Glassblowing glasses are offered for all skill levels, and if you learn how to blow and fall in love with the craft, you can come back again and again and even rent the space for your own projects.

Philadanco – Head on over to West Oak Lane to experience the work of this local, innovative, incredible dance company. There are a multitude of dance styles to choose from as you pick your class – take some jazz classes, try the ballet and grab your shoes for some tap lessons. Philadanco offers gymnastics and acrobatics too, if you’re looking for some adventure. And if you are looking to get your child started on the dance path early, there is a pre-dance and children’s dance class for the very young.
