Flood Warnings for Area

The National Weather Service has announced a flood warning for Northwest Philadelphia.

Shortly after 10 p.m., the National Weather Service reported that there was a flood warning in effect after the area received between one and two inches of rain.

According to the NWS, Wissahickon Creek is above flood stage in the Fort Washington area. While stream levels are rising slowly, the NWS said that streams in Northwest Philadelphia, along with surrounding suburbs should take flooding precautions.

The NWS advises that drivers do not drive through an area where water covers the road. It is difficult to gauge, especially at night, how deep the water is, and whether it is passable by car.
