Excessive Heat Warning Issued

The National Weather Service warned of a high heat index for Thursday afternoon.

A heat index as high as 104 degrees is predicted for Thursday afternoon in the Philadelphia area, causing the National Weather Service to issue an excessive heat warning.

From noon until 8 p.m., the NWS has warned that the heat index is a danger to everyone, particularly seniors and young children.

"The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned room... stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and neighbors," the warning said.
