Why is investing in green energy industries good for the environment and good for jobs?
"The deployment of existing energy efficiency technologies is the nearest-term and lowest-cost option for moderating the U.S. consumption of energy, especially over the next decade. In fact, the full deployment of cost-effective energy efficiency technologies in buildings alone could eliminate the need to construct any new electricity-generating plants in the United States except to address regional supply imbalances, replace obsolete power generation assets, or substitute more environmentally benign sources of electricity. Technologies under development promise even greater gains. In lighting and windows, these technologies include ‘superwindows’ that hold in heat extremely well and dynamic windows that adjust cooling and electric lighting when daylight is available. For cooling, the industry is developing advanced systems that reduce the need for cooling and use low-energy technologies, such as evaporative cooling, solar-thermal cooling, and heat-sensitive dehumidifiers. Other technologies include electronic systems that provide more control over the energy used in homes and very-low-energy-use buildings that combine holistic designs with on- site generation of renewable energy." These new technologies mean JOBS!! http://www.bakerinstitute.org/publications/EF-pub-WorldOilReserves-101911.pdf

This is soul-rattling in a monumentally important election. What's on the table? Only the future of health care, entitlements, a woman's right to choose, tax fairness, a possible attack on Iran and the composition of the Supreme Court for the next few decades.

Who signed the bank bail out (TARP)into law? In numerous polls, the public has voiced their displeasure at the much maligned bank bailout, but most don't know which president signed the controversial act into law. Only a third of Americans (34%) correctly say the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) was enacted by the Bush administration. Nearly half (47%) incorrectly believe TARP was passed under President Obama. Another 19% admit they do not know which president signed the bank bailout into law. Notably, there is no partisan divide on the question. Just 36% of Republicans, 35% of independents and 34% of Democrats know that the government bailout of banks and financial institutions was signed into law by former President Bush. And Democrats (46%) are just as likely as Republicans (50%) to say TARP was passed under Obama.

How has Obamacare strengthened Medicare? In addition to covering annual visits and preventative care without co-pay, the health care law phases out the Medicare prescription drug coverage gap also known as the “donut hole.” In 2013, people with Medicare who reach the “donut hole” will receive approximately 53 percent off the cost of brand name drugs and 21 percent off the cost of generic drugs. Medicare beneficiaries will also continue to benefit from Medicare-covered preventive services at zero cost-sharing, including a yearly Wellness visit.
At the same time that quality is improving and benefits are increasing, premiums in the Medicare Advantage program are remaining steady. Since the Affordable Care Act was passed in 2010 through 2013, Medicare Advantage premiums have fallen by 10 percent and enrollment is increasing by 28 percent. The average estimated basic Medicare prescription drug plan (PDP) premium is projected to hold steady from last year, at $30 for 2013. A Republican Legacy: "Our spending to reconstruct Iraq and Afghanistan dwarf the amount the U.S. spent rebuilding Germany after World War II. $60.45 billion has been spent on reconstruction in Iraq, more than $100 billion in Afghanistan. For comparison, the U.S. spent less than $35 billion in today’s dollars in Germany from 1946 to 1952. (And Volkswagen began exporting Beetles to America in 1949.)
The Iraq expenditure is more than four times the sum committed to Iraq by America’s allies. In Afghanistan, stabilization is expected to cost at least $9 billion per year through 2014. These are reconstruction costs only; the total cost to the U.S. of the Iraq and Afghan conflicts exceeds $1.4 trillion. Whether you are better off today than in 2009 may not be the most useful question to ask about an economy emerging from its most severe downturn in 80 years. A more illuminating question is how we have done relative to other countries that were caught in the global financial cataclysm. By that standard, economic growth in the United States has done surprisingly well.
The president’s early assessment of our economic troubles was wildly optimistic. By the administration’s early forecast the economy would be growing by 4.6 percent this year. Instead, it is probably going to expand just over 2 percent this year and next. But glance across the Atlantic. The economy of the European Union will shrink by 0.2 percent this year, according to the International Monetary Fund. It is smaller than it was five years ago, while the American economy is 2.9 percent bigger. Even Europe’s most competitive countries are slipping. The Dutch economy is shrinking. Germany and Austria are expected to grow at half the rate of the United States this year and next. Why should we re-elect President Obama? The American economy is poised to rebound in the next presidential term according to Charles Dumas, chairman of the economic consulting firm Lombard Street Research in London. Household debt has fallen from its peak, and rock-bottom interest rates mean homeowners are spending only 14 percent of their disposable income on debt payments, the lowest level since 1992. The budget deficit is already down to 8.7 percent of economic output, from 13.3 percent in 2009. Even China is less of a problem, as high inflation has mostly eliminated its currency undervaluation.

Why do we need the Affordable Care Act and why is repealing it not an option?
The cost of the average American hospital stay nearly doubled from 2000 to 2010 while average stay length declined. The decade was a period of low inflation, but some sectors of the economy didn’t get the memo. Charges for a hospitalization soared from an average $17,390 in 2000 to $33,079 in 2010. In the U.S. we spend almost three times as much on a hospital stay as other industrialized countries, even though their average stay tends to be longer. http://www.facethefactsusa.org/facts/hospital-costs-nearly-double-in-decade/?utm_source=Face+the+Facts+USA&utm_campaign=b4b7d76219-Fact_of_the_Day10_19_2012&utm_medium=email

THE FACTS: Under Obama, the United States has taken a lead in trying to organize Syria's splintered opposition, even if the U.S. isn't interested in military intervention or providing direct arms support to the rebels. The administration has organized dozens of meetings in Turkey and the Middle East aimed at rallying Syria's political groups and rebel formations to agree on a common vision for a democratic future after Syrian President Bashar Assad is defeated. And Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton brought dozens of nations together as part of the Friends of Syria group to combine aid efforts to Syria's opposition and help it win the support of as many as Syrians as possible. The U.S. also is involved in vetting recipients of military aid from America's Arab allies like Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
The Friends of Syria group has helped bring in hundreds of millions of dollars in humanitarian aid and other forms of assistance to Syrian civilians and the political opposition. http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/news-general/20121023/US.Presidential.Campaign.Fact.Check/?cid=hero_media

Forget the polls, the debates, the last-minute ads and volleys of insults. This is how the Obama campaign plans to win the election: THE GREATEST GROUND OPERATION EVER!
JOIN WITH US- WE CAN DO THIS!! Four years ago, Barack Obama built the largest grassroots organization in the history of American politics. After the election, he never stopped building, and the current operation, six years in the making, makes 2008 look like "amateur ball," in the words of Obama's national field director Jeremy Bird. Republicans insist they, too, have come a long way in the last four years. But despite the GOP's spin to the contrary, there's little reason to believe Mitt Romney commands anything comparable to Obama's ground operation. Obama's way of thinking vs. Romney's: this is what we are voting for on Nov. 6th.
For instance, should the government have acted to make the auto industry's survival possible—when, facing an instance of market breakdown, Obama intervened in order to protect hundreds of thousands, and maybe more than a million, people from losing their jobs? It's a similar philosophical argument that Obama and Romney are having when they debate other areas of policy. When investors take risks that exploit consumers and jeopardize the economy, should government stop investors from taking those risks? When health insurers make profits by discriminating against people with serious medical issues, should government force insurers to treat those people like everybody else? When manufacturers and energy companies fill the air with carbon, creating climate problems that will affect everybody on the planet, should government find ways to curb their activities? Obama thinks the answer to these questions is yes. Romney thinks it is no. If Romney hates the government so much, why is he running for President? If government can't create jobs, why should we elect Romney as President? Couldn't he just go back to Bain Capitol and make some jobs? Oh, that's right, first he wants to rig the system in his favor, just a little more! http://www.tnr.com/blog/plank/109159/obama-romney-gm-chrysler-detroit-rorschach-test?utm_source=The+New+Republic&utm_campaign=729bdb55ad-TNR_Daily_102612&utm_

"The Congressional Research Service has withdrawn an economic report that found no correlation between top tax rates and economic growth, a central tenet of conservative economic theory, after Senate Republicans raised concerns about the paper’s findings and wording. The report questions the premise that lowering the top marginal tax rate stimulates economic growth and job creation.
Republicans did not say whether they had asked the research service, a nonpartisan arm of the Library of Congress, to take the report out of circulation, but they were clear that they protested its tone and findings." Of course they protested. Of course they sought to prevent publication of the report. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/02/business/questions-raised-on-withdrawal-of-congressional-research-services-report-on-tax-rates.html?src=ISMR_AP_LO_MST_FB
