CNS is seeking a highly motivated Preschool Lead Teacher to be responsible for teaching a group of young children ages 3 years to 4 years of age. CNS seeks candidates who can establish a thoughtful, pro-social, emotionally intelligent play-based curriculum. Familiarity with early literacy and child-centered, inquiry based and emergent curriculum models is preferred.

The ideal candidate will possess initiative, energy, and creativity. She or he must be dependable, nurturing, self-directed, yet flexible; a team player able to contribute constructively in collaboration with colleagues and pro-actively with parents. Excellent social and communication skills are essential.

This is a full time position (10 month annual appointment). Candidates are required to possess current PA Teacher Certification in Education grades Pre-Kindergarten - 4 (previously 2840 Early Childhood N-3, now 2825 PREK-4). Candidates with experience in early childhood education are preferred.

The Cooperative Nursery School (CNS) is a non-profit, parent owned and operated preschool founded in 1967 and licensed by the Commonwealth of PA as a Private Academic Nursery School serving 39 children from 3 years to 5 years of age. Located in the Mount Airy / Germantown section of Northwest Philadelphia, we are situated in a stone cottage on the green grounds of the Unitarian Society of Germantown. Educationally the school functions under the leadership of two Lead Teachers certified in Early Childhood Education, supported by an Administrative Director, two Assistant Teachers, and a team of parents co-oping daily. Children's schedules are flexible; enrollment varies daily.

CNS nurtures social, emotional, intellectual and physical development according to each child. We embrace a play based Emergent Curriculum integrated with elements of the Reggio Emilia approach. Children are encouraged to expand their curiosity, explore their interests, expand their understanding of their world, and learn to care for each other.

The Cooperative Nursery School at the Unitarian Society of Germantown is an equal opportunity employer and encourages diversity among its applicants.
