Jazz Doctors play at Roller’s at Flying Fish

Where/When: Rollers at Flying Fish, 8142 Germantown Ave, Saturday from 8pm –midnight

Why Go: Hear Jazz Doctors Joe Camardo on piano and Justin Fink on Bass, with special guests Michael Andrews, Lucky Thompson, and Richard Orr.

Summer Jazz on Fridays

Where/When: Little Treehouse Play Café, 10 W. Gravers Lane; Friday evening until 8pm

Why Go: The Little Treehouse is offering evening jazz as a way to relax and enjoy the outdoors. A perfect accompaniment to warm evening weather, Treehouse Jazz will delight those looking to take advantage of the longer evening hours. Together with the new barbeque offerings, this will be a great way for parents – and non parents too – to unwind after the working week. BYOB restaurant. This week’s music will be provided by pianist Rich Rudin of Maplewood Music Studio.

Joe Baglia Outdoor Concert at Walk a Crooked Mile Books

Where/When: Walk a Crooked Mile Books, 7423 Devon St; Thursday 7-10pm

Why Go: Come hear Joe Baglia and his alternative rock/pop sound this Thursday at the bookstore’s legendary summer music series. A departure from the usual folk and jazz performers slated to perform, Baglia is a versatile drummer, guitar player, and singer whose music is very 21st century.

West Oak Lane Jazz Festival

Where/When: 7100-7400 blocks of Ogontz Ave; Friday-Sunday

Why Go: The 2011 edition of West Oak Lane Jazz and Arts Festival will again showcase internationally acclaimed, award-winning artists, alongside some of the best regional and upcoming talent. Experience on two stages three days of live Jazz, Salsa, R&B, Classical, Soul, Reggae and more. Explore the Marketplace filled with hand-crafted, original art creations. Exhibitors from around the country have been selected to deliver a multi-cultural mix of jewelry, clothing, photography, paintings and so much more. Come enjoy the array of cuisine from around the globe and around the corner. Finally, a new feature of the festival is the Children’s Day event, complete with live performances, music workshops and a video gaming arcade.

Yoko Ono Presents “Imagine Peace”: The Artwork of John Lennon

Where/When: 115 Levering St on Main (former Propper Bros. Furniture store); Friday 5pm-9pm; Saturday 11am-7pm; Sunday 11am-6pm

Why Go: Share in this visual tribute to John Lennon’s 70th year and support a great cause while doing it.

Pricing: Suggested $2 donation to benefit North Light Community Center

Father’s Day Manayunk Kayak Tours

Where/When: Departing from dock at Manayunk Brewery & Restaurant, 4120 Main St.; Sunday at 10am and 1pm. 

Why Go: Discover a new view of Philadelphia!  Hidden River Outfitters and the Manayunk Brewery and Restaurant are once again teaming up to provide kayak tours of the Schuylkill River.  River adventures include instruction, equipment rental, a guided tour and a meal at the Manayunk Brewery and Restaurant.
