“Urban Jewels” Art Opening

Where/When: , 8611 Germantown Ave, on Friday from 5pm-9pm

Why Go:  “Urban Jewels” features photography, sculptures, and “found art” with an urban theme. The exhibit includes photography by clients of St. John’s Community Services, featuring simple yet interesting objects found on the streets, in back lots and wherever the participants travel – on foot, on buses and trains throughout the city. Also displayed will be the work of several assemblage artists who use those things cast off by others to create some surprising sculptures, objects d’arte and wall hangings.  In addition, the show includes “found art,” pieces in their original form, but reclaimed from dumpsters, thrift stores, yard sales and some even from the side of the road. Come see this surprising show about discovering the beauty in the mundane, the cast offs and in unexpected places.
