Airy—a gathering of food, fun for the whole family, unique shopping, and wildly creative entertainment. carnival games, a pie-eating contest (adult and kid divisions), a slow ice cream eating contest, a pet fashion show, and a petting zoo.

Mt. Airy Art Garage, 9-11 West Mt. Airy Ave., Saturday at 7:30 p.m.; special gala reception with Sharon Katz at 6:30 p.m.

- Why Go: The number of parks throughout Philadelphia will increase dramatically when activists, artists, architects, and other citizens transform metered parking spaces into temporary public parks. This annual event re-imagines the possibilities of 170 square feet of public space.
