Here is a list of events going on throughout Northwest Philadelphia this weekend:

8400 block of Germantown Avenue, Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.
- Why Go:
Come out and enjoy an evening filled with art and fashion events, live opera, jazz musicians, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.  From one end of the block to the other, there will be fun-filled events, including fashion shows, make up demonstrations, jewelry and art exhibits, free skin care analysis, table art, and more—even a doggie fashion parade.

“Flirting With Abstraction” Open House at Woodmere
- Where/When:
, 9201 Germantown Ave., Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
- Why Go:
Flirting with Abstraction brings together some seventy-five works by Philadelphia artists who have used the language of abstraction—color, line, texture, scale, and form—to express the ideas, emotions, and sensuality of life’s experiences.
- Pricing: $10 adults; $7 seniors; free for members, children, and students with current ID.

Blood Drive

, 22 E. Chestnut Hill Ave., Friday from 1 to 7 p.m.
- Why Go:
Help the Red Cross and get a treat at Weavers Way Chestnut Hill (8424 Germantown Ave) or Weavers Way Mt. Airy (559 Carpenter Lane) when you present an "I gave today" donation sticker.

Local Author Day at
- Where/When:
Big Blue Marble Books, 551 Carpenter Lane, Saturday from 3 to 5:30 p.m.
- Why Go:
Join us in Big Blue Marble's cafe for an afternoon of wonderful local authors and light refreshments. The event will feature W. Granville Brown and Wrag's Ink authors Dennis Finocchiaro, Ronnie Woodson and Janae Hoffler.
