Morris Arboretum Arbor Day Adventure Treasure Hunt

Where/When: Morris Arboretum; begin at Out On a Limb; Saturday from 1pm-3pm

Why Go: Celebrate the importance of trees at Morris Arboretum’s annual Arbor Day celebration. This interactive family event will begin high in the tree canopy on Out on a Limb, where visitors will receive a treasure hunt map. From there, they will experience trees up-close and learn about the many reasons we need trees. Arboretum trees will provide the basis for a tree adventure treasure hunt including four Tree Activity stations. Interactive activities will focus on tree care, tree protection, where trees come from, and what trees give us. Visitors who complete the exploration will receive a seedling to take home.

15th Annual Chestnut Hill Home and Garden Festival

Where/When: Germantown Ave in Chestnut Hill, on Sunday from 11am-5pm

Why Go: Spend some time outside enjoying live music, food, yoga for children, face painting, vendors offering sustainable products from organic plants to electric bikes, and of course many plants, flowers and seedlings! Chestnut Hill blossoms into an outdoor garden marketplace with orchids, hanging baskets, garden sculpture, and much more.

Where/When: Big Blue Marble Bookstore, 551 Carpenter Lane, on Saturday at 2pm.

Why Go: Join in the magical fun in this one hour as we celebrate words and language in this reading from the book The Whimsical Sage: Words at Play for All Ages. A free copy of the book will be given to participants to keep or share.

7th Annual Native Plant Sale at the Schuylkill Center

Where/When: The Schuylkill Center, 8480 Hagy’s Mill Rd.; Friday from 6pm-8pm is Members’ Only Preview Sale, with public Native Plant Sale on Saturday from 8:30am-4:30pm and Sunday from 9am-1pm.

Why Go: The Native Plant Sale features over 100 species of trees, shrubs, wildflowers for sun and shade, grasses, ferns, and vines. Whether you’re just starting out with a new garden or adding to your collection of native plants, we have a selection to suit every garden’s needs. Staff horticulturists and Audubon advisors will be on hand to assist you with your garden makeover!
