Olive Oil and More: A Taste of Olive

A Taste of Olive will be opening this fall in Chestnut Hill.

will be opening its fourth location in Chestnut Hill this fall, at 8505 Germantown Ave. According to Retail Recruiter Laurie Wightman, the owners are currently in the process of staffing the shop.

"They're looking to hire right now, and planning on opening in October," Wightman said.

The small chain sells a large selection of olive oils and more. According to the store's website, it houses the "East Coast's largest selection of Extra Virgin Olive Oils, Balsamic Vinegars and Specialty Oils and Vinegars 'on tap' from all over the world."

Wightman said the shop accompanies this variety with foods and platters with which to serve oils.

"It's the whole idea of what you can do with olive oil," Wightman said.

In addition to the new location opening in Chestnut Hill, A Taste of Olive has shops in Ardmore, West Chester and Haddonfield, New Jersey.

When looking to open a new location, Chestnut Hill seemed like the right fit for a specialty shop focused on olive oil.

"They thought the area was just the appropriate demographic," Wightman said.

I went to A Taste of Olive on Thurs, 12/20. I stood in line for at least 15 minutes with the merchandise I planned to purchase. The women at the cash register was the only person working in the store. She asked one of the customers to come back in a few hours. I waited a few minutes longer and put back what I was going to buy. Not a good way to do business especially during the Christmas season. People are looking for work, hire someone.
