Mt. Airy, USA Board of Directors Adds New Members

Joffie Pittman, Monique DeLapenha and Dr. John Cacciamani appointed to board of community development corporation.

Three local civic leaders have been newly appointed to the Mt. Airy, USA Board of Directors. Dr. John Cacciamani, Monique DeLapenha and Joffie Pittman will all serve on the overseeing body of the Northwest Philadelphia-based non-profit.

“We are very eager to have these three community leaders on our board,” said Mt. Airy, USA Executive Director Anuj Gupta. “Monique, Joffie, and John are not only very accomplished professionally, but also share a common passion and vision for the continued improvement of our community.”

Dr. John Cacciamani presently holds the post of CEO for the Chestnut Hill Hospital. With more than fifteen years of experience in hospital operations, he served at Temple University Hospital prior to his current position. A board-certified internist and geriatric sub-specialist, Dr. Cacciamani is a graduate of both the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and the Wharton School of Business, where he earned an MBA.

“Mt. Airy, USA is wonderful in its persistence towards the mission of neighborhood development and assisting those who live within it,” said Cacciamani. “I hope we can continue to further this cause.”

Joffie Pittman joins Mt. Airy, USA with an extensive record of civic involvement in Philadelphia. He has served as a Board Member and President of the West Mt. Airy Neighbors Association and also on the Chestnut Hill Academy Board of Trustees. An attorney, Pittman specializes in labor law and is currently Deputy General Counsel for Labor and Employment with the Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA). He earned his Juris Doctor from the Temple University School of Law.

“It is an honor to join the Mt. Airy, USA Board of Directors,” said Pittman. “I am always keen on ways to better this amazing neighborhood, and this position with this organization is a great opportunity to do just that.”

Currently a partner with Ballard Spahr LLP, Monique DeLapenha is involved with the firm’s Real Estate and Public Finance Departments. She is also a member of the Housing Group and Government Relations, Regulatory Affairs and Contracting Group. DeLapenha was formerly General Counsel for PHA’s real estate department. She was formerly the Chair of the City of Philadelphia Tax Review Board and is a member of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Affordable Housing & Community Development Law. She obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

“With my previous involvement in affordable housing and real estate law, I hope to be of assistance to Mt. Airy, USA by working with the organization to enhance two of its already-exemplary signature services,” said DeLapenha. “I am excited to be a member of the Board of Directors.”

Mt. Airy, USA is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to preserve, empower, and advance a vibrant and diverse community by stimulating development responsive to Mt. Airy.
