Grab & Go Kids Planner: Spring Planting, Book Festivals and Birthday Celebrations

A look at family-friendly activities throughout Northwest Philadelphia this week.

Spring Planting on Ridge Ave. in Roxborough
- Where/When: Meet at Roxborough Development Corporation offices, 6148
Ridge Ave., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Why Go: Join staff and volunteers as they create an intimate atmosphere
for Ridge Avenue by planting sidewalk planters. For questions call 215-508-2358.

FreshVisions Sweet Spirits II Coffee Cabaret
- Where/When: Germantown Theatre Centre, 4821 Germantown Ave., Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
- Why Go: Support the urban arts community—Sweet Spirits II proceeds from Philadelphia will benefit the FreshVisions Youth Theatre. The event will feature a variety of Philadelphia artists.
- Pricing: $5 suggested donation

Big Blue Marble Mt. Airy Kids’ Literary Festival
- Where/When: Big Blue Marble Bookstore, 551 Carpenter Lane, April
8 through 10. Readings on the hour Saturday and Sunday afternoons—click here for a complete schedule.
- Why Go: In addition to readings, music, and other literary events, a special craft table will be open all weekend, stocked with brightly colored paper, collage materials, and all kinds of other supplies to create your own books. There will also be special door prizes—winners will be randomly selected throughout the entire weekend to win free books, promotional goodies, and more. Stop by with your family and get a chance to go home with all kinds of special treats.

Little Treehouse Second Birthday Celebration
- Where/When: Little Treehouse, 10 W. Gravers Lane, Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Why Go: Help celebrate at the Little Treehouse Birthday Party. The event will feature face painting, a sing-a-long, crafts and, of course, plenty of Miss Bliss's delicious homemade cake.
Pricing: All activities are free--regular play admission fees apply: $8.50 for one child, siblings are half price.

Meg’s Melodies, Treehouse ROCKS! Family Entertainment Series
- Where/When: Little Treehouse, 10 W. Gravers Lane, Saturday from 6 to 6:45 p.m., with guaranteed dinner seating either before or after the show.
- Why Go: Award-winning singer/songwriter Meg Russell is here by customer request. She has attracted fans all over the Northeast because of the highly interactive nature of her children's concerts and she makes every child feel valued.
- Pricing: $5 adults, $15 children (includes Treehouse Kid’s Meal: entrée, side and drink). Reservations required and include scheduled dinner seating time: 215-247-3637
