Mt. Airy Restaurant to be Featured on National TV Show

An upcoming episode of the Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives will focus on a Mt. Airy restaurant.

GeeChee Girl Rice Cafe in Mt. Airy will be featured on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives hosted by Guy Fieri.

The episode featuring the Mt. Airy eatery will air on July 1, at 10 p.m.

To celebrate, GeeChee Girl will host a blow out picnic on July 1 behind their restaurant.

The cost of the picnic is $25, and reservations are recommended.  GeeChee Girl will host this picnic instead of its usual Fourth of July picnic, and all proceeds will be donated to a worthy cause.

On its website, GeeChee Girl writes:

"We are thrilled to have been chosen and it was a great experience.  And for anyone who’s wondering, Guy is just as nice and just as much fun as he seems on TV."

The post added:

"And Geechee Girl wants to give a shout out and a thank you to the great customers who agreed to appear on camera"

Valerie Erwin opened GeeChee Girl in 2003 with her sisters after working in restaurants her whole life.
