The Details of Bredenbeck's Mural

The artist could go to work soon on a mural.

Artist Ann Northrup is planning on filling the side of with a mural. This spring, Northrup hopes to begin painting. Philadelphia Mural Arts gives the details on the plan:

About the Design

Northrup's intention for the mural is to create a landscape evoking the confluence of Cresheim Creek and the Wissahickon on a brilliant fall day, and frame it with painted architectural details that will unite with the actual architecture to create a trompe l'oeil effect.

About Ann Northrup

Northrup holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from Boston University and has exhibited widely across the United States. She has taught drawing and design at Philadelphia University for many years, directing the Foundation's Program for a number of those years. During her 10 years of mural making she has completed some of the best-known murals in Philadelphia. In each of her murals, Northrup uses landscape or urban space imagery with architectural elements that unite the painting to its surroundings.

Project Status

A fundraising campaign to raise money for the project is in progress.  A mural of this size--three stories high and covering the entire east side of the bakery--will cost about $25,000 to produce.  Northrup is scheduled to begin painting this spring.
