Pa. Natives John Oates, Daryl Hall Make Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Hall & Oates join KISS, Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, Linda Ronstadt and Cat Stevens in the 2014 class.

They've made their dreams (and their fans' dreams) come true.
Hall & Oates—North Wales Borough native John Oates and Pottstown native Daryl Hall—will be inductees in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2014, per Rolling Stone.

The 1980s pop-rock duo join fellow inductees Nirvana, KISS, Peter Gabriel (who was previously inducted as part of Genesis in 2010), Linda Ronstadt and Cat Stevens (now known as Yusef Islam).

Hall told Rolling Stone:
"It was a bit of a surprise to me. I've always been sort of on the other side of the fence with the old guard and the powers that be. . .This whole new generation of people are looking at me and John in a different way."

In addition, The E Street Band will be given the Award for Musical Excellence and Beatles manager Brian Epstein and original Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham will both receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award for non-performers, according to the article.

The induction ceremony is April 10, 2014 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It will mark the first time the public can attend the event in New York City, according to Rolling Stone. HBO will air the ceremony in May 2014.

Eligibility for the hall of fame comes 25 years after the release of an artist's first album.
