Need something to do this weekend? Here are a few suggestions.

Here's a list of things to do this weekend if you're looking for some suggestions.

Jazz Concert

Where/When: Friday, July 19, 2013, 7 p.m., Mount Airy Train Station, 7423 Devon St., at Gowen Avenue, Philadelphia

Why Go: I'll let the organizers describe it: "We'll beat the heat with a free concert by up and coming jazz violinist and neighbor, Nathan Kamal, who started studying classical violin at 5, went on to study under John Blake Jr. and other local jazz greats at the Clef Club of Philadelphia and is now studying at the New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York. Nathan has eclectic tastes and you'll hear influences of folk, classical Arabic violin, hip hop and more. He'll be joined by guitarist Noah Gershwin. This is an outdoor concert. Bring lawn chairs or blankets and a picnic. For more information call Walk a Crooked Mile Books, 215-242-0854 or go to our website, WalkaCrookedMileBooks.com for any weather updates. Book store will be open during concert."

Creshiem Trail Work Day

Where/When:  Sunday, July 21, 2013, 9 a.m., Meet at the intersection of Lincoln Drive and Allens Lane

Why Go: Again, I defer to the organizers: Gettin' dirty at Cresheim.  Join FOW and the Friends of Cresheim Trail for the closure of old trails and opening of the new. Machines will be in use to tear up the old tread and then followed by crews of individuals doing handwork. The new trail is in need of a variety of finish work including: cutting of back slope, removal of roots, and sight line clearance. here will also be a bit of invasive species removal and preparation work for some planting in the
fall.

To register please contact Volunteer Coordinator Eric D. Falk at falk@fow.org

Volunteers are encouraged to bike, hike or carpool to work days.  Registration is not required but is recommended in order to be notified in case of any changes due to weather.  Workdays will be cancelled in the event of heavy rain or snow. Refer to the FOW Facebook page or the FOW work day page for updates.
