Power Could be Back by Friday, PECO Says

Residents without power in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy could have power back before the weekend.

After a day of work, PECO expect to restore power to most of the areas impacted by Hurricane Sandy by Friday night.

"Based on our assessment of the extent of damage, PECO expects to be able to restore service to approximately 80-90 percent of customers impacted by the storm by Friday night," the company said in a release. "Service for most of the remaining customers should be restored during the weekend."

At the beginning of Wednesday morning, an estimated 60,000 PECO customers were without power. By Thursday morning, nearly half of those customers should have power returned, according to the company's website.

"We know our customers are inconvenienced when they are without service. Given the massive destruction caused by this fierce storm, we ask our customers to be patient and thank them for their understanding as we continue our work.”
