Mary Poppins Sing Along, Campfire Cooking This Weekend

Manayunk on Ice

  • When: February 8 - 10
  • Where: Main Street, Manayunk
  • Why Go: The weekend begins with a huge ice bonfire on Friday night. Throughout the weekend master ice carvers will carve large ice sculptures live on Main Street, Fear No Ice will perform a theatrical ice carving show for visitors, and ice carving battles will put two ice carvers up against each other to battle it out for the best ice sculpture carved in just 30 minutes.

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 9 from 4 - 6:30 p.m.
  • Where:Church of St. Martin-in-the-Fields 8000 Saint Martins Ln, Philadelphia
  • Why Go: Bring the family for a sing-along of this heart-warming and magical tale of family. With classic songs like: "A Spoonful of Sugar" and "Chim-chiminey" you'll be saying "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" and planning a trip to 'fly a kite' in no time! We'll run the movie with the captioning on, so no need to worry about remembering the words. Come in costume, if so inspired! BYOUmbrella! Popcorn and treats will be available.

Campfire Cooking

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 9 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • Where: Wissahickon Environmental Center, 300 W. Northwestern Avenue Philadelphia
  • Why Go:  Enjoy the warm campfire on a cold winter’s day and make your own lunch cooked in the coals- banana boats, brown bears, dough boys, pudgy pies and more! Learn some new recipes to try on your next camping trip.
  • Cost: $5 per family

Smart Money Club

  • Why Go: Do you want to learn how to manage your money?  Join the Smart Money Club and get educated on money management over the course of five Saturday sessions.

Mishkan Shalom Auction and Gala

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 9 from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

PSU Master Gardeners' Second Saturday

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 9 from 9:30 - 11 a.m.
  • Where:Belmont Ave & Montgomery Dr, Philadelphia, PA 19019
  • Why Go:What do the Japanese honeysuckle, lonicera japonica, and Butterfly bush, buddleja lindleyana have in common?  Kristen Lacey, a Phila. Master gardener, will show you how to improve your garden's ecosystem by planting native trees, shrubs, grasses and perennials.  This class will cover "right plant, right palce", how to attract beneficial wildlife to your garden, and appropriate urban alternatives to invasive plants

Skin Smart Dermatology Open House

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 9 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Where:7945 Germantown Ave, Philadelphia
  • Why Go: See presentation on topics such as skin tightening, laser treatments, botox and fillers, collagen, acne treatments and get free skin cancer screenings.  There will be Coupons and Prizes through-out the day.

Mrs. Warren's Profession

Friday Night Jazz: Lee Smith

  • When: Friday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m.

  • Why Go: Philadelphia-born, legendary upright jazz bassist, Lee Smith will be performing with his quintet.

Family Fun Workshops: Jack and the Beanstalk

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 9 at 12:30 p.m.
  • Where: Woodmere Art Museum 9201 Germantown Ave, Philadelphia
  • Why Go: Come out and read and make art inspired by some of our favorite fairy tales. Each Saturday is a new fun activity for the whole family. A parent must accompany children. Perfect for budding artists and their families, ages 4–10. Advanced registration suggested.  This week: Jack and the Beanstalk
