  • Why Go: Enjoy the sounds of regal brass and the voices of the Mendelssohn Club.  One of our most popular concerts, celebrate the holidays through timeless music spanning several centuries, traditions, and well-loved traditional carols.

Holiday Hat Parade

  • When: Saturday, Dec. 15, 4 – 5 p.m.
  • Where: Morris Arboretum
  • Why Go: Dig out your favorite hat, or create one just for the occasion. Join in the fun as we parade from the Widener Visitor Center down to the Garden Railway to celebrate the start of extended viewing hours.
  • Cost: Free with admission

Uncorking the Past at Cliveden

  • When: Friday, December 14, 2012 at 7pm– 9pm
  • Where: Cliveden Carriage House, 6401 Germantown Avenu
  • Why Go: Join us for an archaeochemical tour of ancient fermented beverages with host Patrick McGovern, Scientific Director of the University of Pennsylvania Museum’s Bimolecular Archaeology Laboratory. Sample ancient craft brews, paired with  delicious complimentary dishes from recipes around the world.

Sundays With Santa

Holiday Garden Railway

  • When: Now through December 31, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Where: Morris Arboretum, 100 W Northwestern Ave, Chestnut Hill
  • Why Go: Come see the magical miniature world of the garden railway display, lit up and decorated for the holidays. Model trains zip in and out of tunnels and over bridges along the outdoor quarter mile track that runs through the village of historic Philadelphia landmarks.
  • Cost: Free with admission

Classic Sunday's at Woodmere - Astral Artists Present the Jasper Quartet

  • When: Sunday, Dec. 16 from 3 – 4:30 p.m.
  • Where: Woodmere Art Museum 
  • Why Go: Join the Jasper Quartet for this program featuring string quartets from the patriarch of the First Viennese School Joseph Haydn to romantic classical music of Felix Mendelssohn. Light refreshments served. Performance and "get to know the artist" reception.
  • Cost: $20 ($10 members)

Friday Night Jazz: Aretha Franklin

  • When: Friday, Dec. 14 from 6 – 8 p.m.
  • Where: Woodmere Art Museum
  • Why Go: This week, vocalist Lisa Chesvous will earn your R-E-S-P-E-C-T as she delivers Franklin favorites such as “A Natural Woman,” “Dr. Feelgood,” “I Say a Little Prayer,” and more.
  • Cost:$20 ($10 members, Children under 12: Free)

Caroling at the Creche

  • When: Monday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m.
  • Where: Sovereign Bank
  • Why Go: A neighborhood tradition of caroling by the creche, followed by refreshments.
