Tu B'Shevat Family Program

  • When: Sunday, Jan. 20 from 1 - 3 p.m.
  • Where: Morris Arboretum,100 E. Northwestern Avenue, Philadelphia
  • Why Go: Celebrate the Jewish New Year of Trees. There will be musical performances by Andi Joseph, The Musical Mommy, as well as a take-home seedling activity. 
  • Cost: Free with Admission

What Tree is That? Winter Tree Identification

  • When: Sunday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m.
  • Where: The Cedars House, Forbidden Drive at Northwestern Ave.
    200 Northwestern Ave., Philadelphia
  • Why Go: The Friends of the Wissahickon present this afternoon of identifying winter trees.  Start off in the Cedar’s House reviewing some of the techniques we can use to ‘read ‘ trees in the winter and then head out for a hike in the woods to practice our skills.  If possible, we’ll be hiking on the trails and if the trails are not easily accessible, we’ll stay on Forbidden Drive.
  • Cost: Free

Family Fun Night

  • When: Friday, Jan. 18 from 6 - 8 p.m.
  • Where: Six Senses Clay Studio, 20 E. Mt. Airy Ave.,Philadelphia
  • Why Go: Bring the family out for pizza, veggies, and hand building with clay.  Spots are limited so reserve your spot by calling 267-650-1757.
  • Cost: $20/person or $50 per family

  • Why Go: Visit with master beekeeper Anaiis Salles and learn how bees feed the world, play “Visualize World Bees: the Game of Environmental Transformation,” and taste some yummy different types of honey.

ArcheDream for HUMANKIND presents DEEP BLUE

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 19 and Sunday, Jan. 20 at 2 and 7:30 p.m.
  • Where: Sedgwick Theater, 7137 Germantown Ave, Philadelphia
  • Why Go: ArcheDream for HUMANKIND is an international blacklight mask dance/theater troupe based in Philadelphia. DEEP BLUE is ArcheDream’s longest running, globe trotting, and evolving show (since 2004). This visually stunning performance has, puppets, dancing, music, masks, and costumes created by our Philadelphia-based artists, performers and musicians.. DEEP BLUE is a captivating show that inspires people of all ages.

Public Skate Night

  • When: Friday, Jan. 18 from 8:30 - 10:30 p.m.
  • Where: Wissahickon Skating Club, 550 W Willow Grove Ave, Philadelphia
  • Why Go: Two-hour open ice skate for anyone looking to have some fun on the ice.
  • Cost: $9.00 admission; $1.00 guest card; $3.00 skate rental

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m.

  • Why Go: Lisa Zeidner will read from her new novel, Love Bomb and Christine Weiser will read from her novel, Broad Street.
