Dicken's of a Weekend

  • When: Saturday, December 8 and Sunday, December 9
  • Where: Downtown Chestnut Hill
  • Why Go: Enjoy a Victorian Christmas celebration with victorian carolers, storytelling and characters from right off the pages of A Christmas Carol. Enjoy holiday shopping, visiting with Santa, dining and drinks, and merriment along Germantown Ave. 
  • Cost: Free

Penn Glee Club Holiday Concert

  • When: Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.
  • Where: Morris Arboretum
  • Why Go: A winter tradition, the Penn Glee Club will return to Morris Arboretum on Saturday, December 8th for their 3rd Annual Holiday Concert. Come and enjoy the Glee Club’s fun and diverse holiday repertoire, while enjoying hot cocoa and cookies in the garden.
  • Cost: Free with admission

SCEE Winterfest

  • When: Sunday, Dec. 9 from 2 - 8 p.m.
  • Where:
  • Why Go: Bring the kids and celebrate the season at this fun family festival.  Enjoy shopping from eco-artist vendors and crafters, DIY craft workshops - including wreath making, nature walks, storytime and more.  The kids will love it when WXPN's Kids Corner joins in on the fun from 2 - 6 p.m. with host Kathy O'Connell bringing the entire Science Thursday line-up including chemist Lisa Chirlian, naturalist Jane Kirkland and SCEE's own Mike Weilbacher.  Stick around for a stargazing workshop from 6 - 8 p.m. in the meadow and visit the campfire to make s'mores!

Santa at Rothe Florist

  • When: Dec. 7 from 6 – 8 p.m.
  • Where: Rothe Florist, 7148 Germantown Avenue
  • Why Go: Forget the mall. Bring the kids to visit and take pictures with Santa. Enjoy free cookies and warm cider.
  • Cost: Free

Bingo and Pizza Night

  • When: Saturday, Dec. 8 from 6 - 8 p.m.
  • Where: Holy Cross School 144 E Mount Airy Ave, Philadelphia
  • Why Go: Come out for bingo, pizza, prizes, Christmas shopping and a visit from Santa.  
  • Cost: $1 Bingo Cards

Friday Night Jazz - Ain’t Misbehavin’: Music of Fats Waller

  • When: Friday, Dec. 7 from 6 – 8 p.m.
  • Where: Woodmere Art Museum
  • Why Go: This week, the legendary songbook of Fats Waller comes to life at Woodmere as Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble revisits classics like “Ain’t Misbehavin,” “Blue Turning Grey Over You,” “Stormy Weather,” and “Honeysuckle Rose.”
  • Cost: $20 ($10 members, Children under 12: Free)

Mt Airy Home Companion

  • When: Saturday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 9 at 4 p.m.
  • Where:
  • Why Go:  Enjoy an old-time-radio-style variety show that celebrates Mount Airy in comedy and song.  The show includes original songs, musical parodies, holiday classics, and new takes on public radio, Peace on Earth, and Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" from a cast of wacky characters. 
  • Cost: $15 online, $20 at door

Winter Wonderland

  • When: Saturday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. - Noon
  • Where: Smith Memorial Playground & Playhouse, East Fairmount Park, Philadelphia
  • Why Go: Kids 10 and younger and their caregivers are invited to celebrate the holiday season both indoors and out, with a hot chocolate and cookie bar, multicultural crafts and activities perfect for holiday gift-giving, special storytimes, and warming up by getting active with PLAY!
  • Cost: $10 non-members

Sundays With Santa

  • When: Sunday, Dec. 2, 9, 16, 23 from Noon – 3 p.m.
  • Where: On the porch at 8428 Germantown Ave., 8428 Germantown Ave
  • Why Go: Visit with Santa and tell him all of your holiday wishes.
  • Cost: Free

Stagecrafters Theater presents: Jitney

  • When: Friday, Nov. 23 – Dec. 9
  • Where:
  • Why Go: This week Jitney opens at The Stagecrafters Theater.  Production performance dates are November 23, 24, 29, 30, December 1, 6, 7, 8 at 8 p.m., December 2, 9 at 2 p.m.
  • Cost: $17 Online; $20 at Door; Thurs 2-for-$25

Holiday Garden Railway

  • When: Now through December 31, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Where: Morris Arboretum, 100 W Northwestern Ave, Chestnut Hill
  • Why Go: Come see the magical miniature world of the garden railway display, lit up and decorated for the holidays. Model trains zip in and out of tunnels and over bridges along the outdoor quarter mile track that runs through the village of historic Philadelphia landmarks.
  • Cost: Free with admission
