Folk Dance Friday

Where/When: Friday, August 2, 2013, 1 p.m., Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill, 8855 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118

Why Go: From the organizers: "Beginning and Intermediate International Folk Dancing. Newcomers are more than welcome. Do the dances as they are done in the villages! Teaching and open dancing. Welcoming, friendly group. Your first visit is free. 
$7 at the door each time, any ten sessions for $60, or any ten sessions for $50 for members of the Chestnut Hill Center for Enrichment.  See www.beaverfolkdance.org/folkdancefridays for complete information."

Pricing: Free the first time.  Seven dollars each time after.

Jazz Concert

Where/When: Friday, August 2, 2013, 7 p.m., Mount Airy Train Station, 7423 Devon St., at Gowen Avenue, Philadelphia

Why Go: Again, I'll defer to the organizers: "enny Sykes has been playing in our concert series since we started some 13 years ago and we're always glad when August rolls around and he can play some cool jazz for us. This year he has a great band behind his alto and tenor saxophone playing. We'll also get to hear his rich baritone voice on gospel, soul and standards. This is an outdoor concert, bring a lawn chair or a blanket, a picnic, kids and dogs. Rain date is Saturday August 3 same time and place. Flea Market Fundraiser

Where/When: Saturday, August 3, 2013, 8:3o a.m., Mt Airy Presbyterian Church, 13 East Mt. Pleasant Avenue at Germantown Avenue 

Why Go: Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church is hosting a flea market in the Courtyard and Fellowship Hall, rain or shine.   Various items for  sale include clothing, home goods, books, baked goods, crafts etc.  Food and Light refreshments will also be on sale.  All proceeds benefit the church.
