Flash Flood Warning Issued for Philadelphia

A flash flood warning for Philadelphia is in effect until 3:45 p.m., Tuesday. A flash flood watch is in effect until 4 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Philadelphia in effect until 3:45 p.m., Tuesday.

Radar showed very heavy rain moving into the area from the southeast at 7:50 a.m. on Tuesday.  Some areas received one to three inches of rain in a very short amount of time.

A flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.  Residents are asked to move to higher ground especially if they live close to rivers or creeks.

Once the warning expires at 3:45 p.m., there is still a flash flood watch in effect until 4 p.m.

More rain is expected in the afternoon and it could be as heavy as three to four inches in a two to three hour timeframe.

Please do not try to drive through large pools of standing water as they are often deeper than they appear.
